Case Study – Faster Rural Broadband

We had a call from a client that lived in the New Forest and as more people are currently working from home, her internet wasn’t coping with the increased load.

We decided to attend site and carry out one of our Wifi & Internet site surveys. This allows us to take note of current setup as well as look at any potential better alternatives we could install.

During the site survey, we notice our client was getting download speeds via Sky Broadband of 1.30 Mbps download speed and an average upload of 0.44 Mbps.

To put this into context, she was unable to do things such as access Netflix, use YouTube.

This is a common issue we find with more rural properties, and in the past we have installed Satellite Broadband services which involves putting a dish (similar to a Sky dish) on the outside of the house.

The good news is, technology has improved in recent years, so after some successful testing – our unlimited 4G data router with external waterproof antenna did the trick (see pictures above).

This has increased speeds to near-normal ADSL speeds, which has allowed our client to use the services they have never been able to access before, as well as cope with the extra home-workers usage during the day!

If you are struggling with slow internet speeds in the office or at home, do get in touch as our WiFi and Internet Site Survey takes around an hour and we can then recommend some great solutions to you with no obligation to proceed.
